This Friday at Tangent Lab you can enjoy the paintings of Jaki McElroy, with the musical talents of her younger sister visiting from Nashville, Tennessee. Jaki is a local artist, creating and showing frequently at local galleries, aside from her teaching at CityArts and through ArtsPartners in Wichita and surrounding schools, she works out of The Warehouse in downtown Wichita along with several other artists.
Jaki's work is highly personal and introspective, decorative and anatomical, illustrative and stylized and above all, abundant. She creates as result of a longstanding obsessive compulsion. Her sister Jenny performs solo and with a band, currently out of Nashville, again highly personal and intense lyrics and vocal influence. Jaki says of her sister's voice, “like a gifted hand, is an instrument, and her songs and words are my soundtrack when I paint. I cannot describe the bond we have forged, finding our own paths.”
Jenny’s band is called Pathos, they can be found on myspace.com/pathoslive. Jaki has forced Jenny to play as a priceless birthday gift and overall pleasurable experience at this show.
Make sure to stop in at Tangent Lab during the gallery crawl this Friday, and don't miss our 10@10 gallery talk series, starting at 10 p.m.
