Yes, you can see large-scale abstract expressionist paintings at Tangent Lab this Final Friday, but you also may discover something more in the artist Clint Metcalf as he returns to Wichita for his first solo exhibit here.
Clint moved to Wichita from Chicago as a teenager in the late 80s. He got his artistic start at Southeast High with professor Ted Blankenship, was central to the punk scene in town and has some great stories from his time there. (Living out of a VW bus, parties at the exotic animal farm in Andover, etc.) His life took him from Wichita on to an eclectic journey that has eventually brought him back to Kansas (Prairie Village, a suburb of KC). He now paints in his unique and colorful style as a full-time artist, including some recent studies of super heroes.
Be in the gallery at 10 p.m. to hear Clint talk about his influences and inspiration at our 10@10 gallery talk series.
