Upcoming event: Gateway to Gutai Artwork by Clint Metcalf Opening Reception Final Friday August 26, 2011 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. 10@10 Gallery talk starts at 10 p.m.

Tangent Lab is proud to present artist Clint Metcalf, exhibiting his solo effort of Gateway to Gutai, opening this month during Final Friday, August 26. Formed in the mid-50's in Japan, Gutai was a movement and association of artists fascinated with the beauty that arises from objects revealing their inner "life" through decay.

Influenced by these artists, Metcalf starts his paintings with a solid black canvas and builds his complex paintings of vivid color and movement by using techniques of strokes, scrapes and dots.
