Upcoming event: BITCH An Exhibition of Photographs by Katie Sykes Opening Reception Final Friday March 27, 2009 7 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. 10@10 Ten-minute gallery talk starting at 10 p.m. Musical Guests Spirit of the Stairs are playing on the roof-top patio

Katie Sykes brings her unique brand of photographic collages to Tangent Lab this Final Friday with a solo effort of her images, opening on March 27. Using polaroids, C-Prints and paint to create her mixed-media collage works, Katie continues to expand the artistic range and presentation of her work, including coating some of them in hard resin. Why, you ask, is the show called Bitch? Katie explains, "At the time that I was needing a name for the show, I felt that using Bitch for the title was a way for me to 'own' the term, letting people know that as a strong person it didn't bother me to be called that."

Don't miss the sweets from the Sugar Sisters Bakery and our 10@10 gallery talk starting at 10 p.m. Not only that, but the band Spirit of the Stairs will be playing on our roof-top patio during the course of the evening. We're going to have a bitchin' good time.

In April, the Wichita State University Student Activities Council Arts Committee will present an exhibit of work by WSU students and faculty exploring the theme What Diversity Means to Me.
